Inside panel is scored for fledglings to climb out when ready to leave the nest. Norther Flicker birdhouses need to be tilted forward at about 15 degrees, mounted 6 to 10 feet high on a pole or tree facing south or east with an open flyway and needs to be filled with wood chips to encourage excavation and deter starlings. They like a partial shaded area.
